Les Abromovitz
Les’ Jewish and non-Jewish plays have been performed in festivals across the country. Ten of his one-act and 10-minute comedies are scheduled for production or readings in 2024.
His play, THE HOME STRETCH, won first place in the 4th Annual International Jewish Short Play Competition and has been performed in venues across the country. Three of his short plays were read at festivals held by the San Diego Center for Jewish Culture, most recently in June, 2024.
In May 2015, SEVEN BANANAS won first place in the Little Theatre of Alexandria's National One-Act Playwriting competition. The one-act version was performed in March, 2017, at the 30 by Ninety Theatre near New Orleans. The ten-minute version, MY MAZEL, was read in 2017 at the Jewish Writers Roundtable in Encino, California. It was also read at Jewish play festivals in Boca Raton and Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Les is a member of the Dramatists Guild. His COVID-19 play, SENIORS IN SOLITARY AT THE ALF, was included in a book of short plays that was published by Smith & Kraus in July, 2021.
Les has been the author, co-author, technical editor, and ghostwriter of books published by John Wiley & Sons, McGraw-Hill, Dearborn Trade, ALM Media, and other major publishers. And last but certainly least, he is an attorney who learned most of what he knows from watching Law and Order.
Les and his wife split their time between Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Boca Raton, Florida, where Jewish lawyers go to die.
