Shawna James

Shawna James is honored to be an AJT member and member at large of the AJT Board. She spent the early part of her career as a multi hyphenate theater lover and practitioner, earning her BFA from Boston University. She's enjoyed working at theaters such as Company One Theater, Interlochen and McCarter Theatre Center. Shawna's true calling came when she began working behind the scenes in nonprofit management and board relations at organizations such as SPACE on Ryder Farm, Stella Adler Acting Studio, and Theatre Communications Group. Shawna has a passion for helping non-profits grow their mission-led work by establishing operational efficiencies and defined governance practices. Shawna is forever a lover of theater, and those that make spaces for artists to thrive. Shawna currently resides in Brooklyn, NY with her dog Nova.
