
Yael is a Venezuelan-born, Eastern European, Jewish, Kiwi arts practitioner from Wellington. A business entrepreneur, actor, writer, voice-over artist, producer, publicist and mother of two. Founder and Artistic Director of Kavanah Productions, she works across many disciplines and forms, passionate about creating uplifting works that nurture personal and community wellbeing. Recent collaborations include co-writing the award-winning animated collection of three short stories for the fulldome “How It Was Told To Me”, which received international acclaim through the USA, Germany, Belarus, Portugal, Russia and Australia. She has produced and publicized many shows at Circa Theatre including the upcoming season of Prima Facie, as well as Red, Constellations, Midsummer – A play with Songs, and Edge / Turning Page. Yael also produced and performed the 5-star solo theatre show Nuclear Family, by Desiree Gezentsvey, to rave reviews, performed at the Adelaide Fringe Festival, London Solo Festival, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Circa Theatre Wellington and Q Theatre Auckland. She has a BA in Performing and Screen Arts from UNITEC Auckland and a BA in Film and and Theatre from Victoria University. Yael is a selected member of the Alliance for Jewish Theatre 2021-2023 Theatremacher Cohort, a fellow of the JAL Corps 2022, and is on the committee for The Council of Jewish Women, Wellington, New Zealand and The National Council of Women New Zealand.
