Laura I. Kramer is a Composer and co-bookwriter of A LETTER TO HARVEY MILK (2012 Rodgers Award Finalist & NYMF Most Promising Musical), which premiered Off-Broadway in 2018 and in London in 2022. Laura is currently working on the musical, FLICKERS. Laura has written numerous songs both as composer/lyricist and in collaboration with other lyricists. She worked with lyricist Mitchell Bernard on the original musical, As The Years Go By, and with mezzo-soprano and lyricist Lori Brown Mirabal on the recording of Laura’s art song, Armgart on the album, “Geliebter, Komm.”
The composer of several choral works, art songs, and arrangements, Laura’s choral compositions have been performed by choruses in the U.S. and Canada. The Skidmore College Music Department commissioned her to write a commemorative choral piece, A Musical Instrument.
Studies include choral composition with renowned composer Alice Parker, an MA in Music Theory and Composition from Montclair State University, and a B. S. in Music from Skidmore College, where she received the Herman Josephs Muller Prize in Music. Laura has conducted a women‟s chorus, managed a contemporary music series, and worked for non-profit theatre and music organizations. Professional affiliations include ASCAP, Dramatists Guild, and GALA-Choruses.
