Yehduah Jai Husband is an active member of Congregation Adath Jeshurun in Louisville, KY. Yehudah serves on its Board of Trustees and is the Founder and Artistic Director of its theatre company, The SH’MA Theatre Group @ AJ. Yehudah is an award-winning Animation Director and has been steeped in the tradition of storytelling from an early age, growing up the son of Walt Disney Feature Animator, Ron Husband. During his undergrad studies at Morehouse College, Yehudah minored in theatre and founded a successful student theatre company for which he wrote, directed and produced many plays and musicals . After college, and while serving as Senior Animation Director for Turner Broadcasting, Yehudah was very involved in the Atlanta theatre community, including serving as Artistic Director of Class Act Theatre in Marietta, GA for several years. Upon relocating to Louisville, Yehudah immediately became involved in the Louisville theatre community, acting in productions for CenterStage, Pandora Productions, and Sweet Apple Theatre Company. In 2019, Yehudah combined his passion for Judaism with his passion for theatre and founded the SH’MA Theatre Group, committed to producing quality Jewish theatre and facilitating the creation of new Jewish theatre content for Louisville and the surrounding region. SH’MA will produce a yearly season of Jewish content, and sponsor a biennial Jewish Playwrighting Competition.
