Playwright and Producer

Author of 43 books, numerous prize winners: PEN AWARD, JEWISH NATIONAL BOOK AWARD, GERMAN CATHOLIC BISHOPS AWARD, EDGAR ALLAN POE AWARD, SYDNEY TAYLOR AWARD, etc.

Wrote book and lyrics for RETURN, the musical, and produced it at the Edgemar Theater in Santa Monica, CA in 2008. Wrote and produced stage play SURVIVING MAMA in 2012. Wrote script for STORY FOR A BLACK NIGHT based on the novel by Clayton Bess. Recently wrote and produced staged reading for a full length play, SHAME. In my work I aim for dramatic impact and social relevance. Arthur Miller is my muse.

I hold a lifelong credential in Adult Education, and taught creative writing for UCLA Extension for 40 years. Presently I divide my work time between writing and art. My paintings have been exhibited in various venues in Los Angeles and Park City, Utah.

I believe that a good book or drama poses questions instead of providing answers, allowing the audience to discover a commonality in their own lives.
