Artistic Director, writer, director, producer, performer
Noémi was born on November 7, 1978 in Antwerp as the first daughter of two artists. This way becoming the fourth generation of artists. She follows the steps of her parents (painters), grandparents (Kokoshka group) and great-grandparents (the inner circle of Schönberg, von Zemlinski and Kafka) , in the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
This rich international cultural background was without doubt the fertile ground for her theatrical career. Trilangual by the age of 6, Noemi knows theater is her vocation. After graduating of classical Latin and Greec studies, she enroles in the Concervatorium Antwerp Hoger Herman Teirlinck Institute option Theatre Dora van der Groen in 1997. She graduated cum laude under Ivo van Hove in 2001. At the same time she graduated in the Master art teaching program.
She starts as freelancer on major stages in lead parts in theaters and musicals (some with international acclaim and winning the Edinburgh Festival in 2007).
In 2004 Noemi founds her mixed media theater company SALOMEE SPEELT.
She performs, writes, directs and produces. From the start SALOMEE SPEELT receives funding from the city of Antwerp, the Flemish Government, independent companies in Belgium, American grants when in the United States. In 2013 she is a recipient from the European Union. SALOMEE SPEELT perfomed so far in 5 languages and on 4 continents.
In 2007 Noemi receives residency at the Arenberg Schouwburg Antwerpen. (till 2014)
In 2008/9 Noemi curates the Year of Jewish Culture of Antwerp.
In 2011 she becomes a finalist for OPERARE BERLIN and selected for PAIDEIA SWEDEN. Joins the international ROI COMMUNITY , becomes a SCHUSTERMAN FOUNDATION GRANTEE, as well as a European representative for League of Professional Woman in the Theatre.
2011/12 Noemi is Artist in Residence in Chicago for ShPieL, where she creates 4 shows, plays in 2, directs her first full production directing Steppenwolf actors. She gives masterclasses in acting at Lookingglass theater and UCLA. She becomes a boardmember of the American Jewish Theatre Association. She leaves on the “2012 American tour of Opera Garnier”, working as assistant for Mme Lefèvre. She returns to Paris with the opera to open her Yiddish Cabaret. She finishes 2012 with graduating in Holocaust studies at Yad Vashem, Jeruzalem.
In 2013 Noemi works at Troubleyn Jan Fabre(January). Gets selected for Asylum Art Retreat in NYC ( March) and the THEATERTREFFEN FOR THE INTERNATIONALE BERLINER FESTSPIELE and is part of the International Forum ( May).
Schlosser is a founding member of THE MINISTRY FOR OPERATIC AFFAIRS, the first travelling opera company in Belgium. Mozart’s Don Giovanni opens in October. Since The Ministry has 2 creations a year scheduled yearly for international touring.
In 2014 she writes and directs the international collaboration TRAKTORFABRIK with the support of the European Union, which suffers a BDS boycott by Belgian press and art scene following Schlosser’s open support for Israel over the summer. The play gets very well received in NY.
In 2015/16 Noemi recovers from this emotional turn point, prepares Aliyah and opens her first show in Israel in both English and Hebrew DATE ME TLV! a comedy. She starts her research for her latest project 1948, to open for 70 years of Israel in 2018.
