Merridawn Duckler

I’m a Jewish playwright and poet from Oregon. I have an MAJS from Hebrew College, where I wrote my thesis on Emmanuel Levinas’s “The Pact” and presented a play on the same topic. I’ve adapted Brecht, Kafka, Omar Khayyam. Productions in the RedCat NOW Festival, Fertile Ground; IPOP; Playwrights Forum Festival; Manhattan Shakespeare Project, Veterans Play Project and staged readings at Seattle Repertory and Oregon Contemporary Theater. I was commissioned to write a play about Native-American artist Rick Bartow, performed at the Newport Performing Arts Center. Conferences/Residencies include Yaddo, Last Frontier Theater Conference, Southampton Theater Conference (with Annie Baker) Norman Mailer Center (with Paul Carter Harrison), Horned Dorset Writers Colony, HBMG. I’m the drama editor for Narrative Magazine.
