Dan Schifrin

I am a playwright, newly converted from fiction and journalism, working at the intersection of Jewish + comedy + absurdity + philosophy. My first play, “Sweet and Sour,” had staged readings at Z Space in San Francisco and the JCC East Bay. My one person show, “String Theory,” was presented twice at the Marsh in San Francisco as part of their new work development program. As part of a 2020-2021 LABA Fellowship, I am finishing the play “At Rise,” about the overlap of Kabbalah, jazz and comedy improv (the usual combination).
