Doug Brook (he/him) is a published, award-winning playwright from Alabama, residing in Northern California. He served AJT as a Vice President from 2012 through 2019.

He was co-founder and Artistic Director of Theatre Chevruta: A Jewish Readers Theatre, at the Addison-Penzak Jewish Community Center in Los Gatos, California, and directed all offerings through its five-year run from 2013 through 2018, including My Name is Asher Lev, God of Vengeance, Cantorial, Broken Glass, and others. He was Executive Director of Silicon Valley Shakespeare from 2015 through 2021.

About twenty of his plays have been produced, staged, or recognized nationwide, including Off-Off-Broadway productions of RETROGRADE (published by Smith & Kraus) and WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO HANUCLAUS?. He is also an active director and actor in the San Francisco Bay Area, including appearances as Jon Davies (the one-man play Shylock), Mitch (Tuesdays With Morrie), Boolie Werthan (Driving Miss Daisy) and two performance runs as Tevye (Fiddler on the Roof).

A longtime B'nai Mitzvah Instructor at multiple synagogues and has taught multiple series of Laugh & Learn and Midrash on Stage. He has been the resident humor columnist for SOUTHERN JEWISH LIFE magazine since 1996, and has two published collections of his column (Rear Pew Mirror). He's a former Ramahnik, AZA brother, and an international award recipient for leadership in Alpha Epsilon Pi.

Outside the theatre, Doug is in upper management for technical writing in Silicon Valley. He received bachelor's and master's degrees in writing and theatre from Carnegie Mellon University, and a master's degree in Jewish Education from The Jewish Theological Seminary.
