AJT 2020 Virtual Conference: Request for Performance Proposals

AJT 2020 Virtual Conference: Request for Performance Proposals
Performers, companies, collectives, and theatre artists may apply.

The Alliance for Jewish Theatre is seeking Performance Proposals for AJT’s 2020 Virtual Conference. Accepted submissions will be paid a stipend and artists will have the opportunity to present their work to an engaged audience of theatremakers creating Jewish work around the world. In addition, the lead/submitting artist of accepted projects will receive a free “all-access pass” to the conference.

The AJT 2020 Virtual Conference will take place from Sunday, October 25th through Tuesday, October 27th, 2020. An estimated 100 theatre artists involved in Jewish work will be in attendance, including around 25 Artistic and Producing Directors from Jewish theatres across the US, Canada, and the world.

Deadline and Submission Details
Projects can be submitted starting Thursday, September 10th, 2020. The deadline for submissions is Thursday, October 8th, 2020. There is no fee for submission or participation.

Applicants
Proposals may be submitted by individual artists, collectives, or companies. Artists do not need to be Jewish to apply or perform. BIPOC artists and Jewish artists of Color are strongly encouraged to submit.

Criteria
Projects should be Jewish in content, whether it revolves around Jewish experience, values, thought, characters, cultural expression, or identity.

Projects will be chosen based on several factors including: artistic merit, Jewish content, relevancy to the moment, uniqueness of voice, and presentation quality.

Submission Categories
Because of the virtual nature of this year’s conference, artists are encouraged to submit their work in one of the following four categories:
  I. Pre-Recorded Theatre Projects
  II. Live Video Theatre Projects
III. Single Location and Solo Short Theatre Projects
  IV. Outside The Box

Projects should be submitted to only one of the four categories. A single artist may submit a maximum of two different projects. (If submitting more than one project, the two projects do not have to be in the same category.) If you have questions regarding which category best suits your project, please email us at conference@alljewishtheatre.org.
